Silent Hills (Kojima, Guillermo Del Toro) [UPDATE: CANCELLED]

A new Silent Hill game just got revealed, it's a collaboration between Hideo Kojima & Guillermo Del Toro. Very little info out there at the moment. It seems Norman Reedus will be playing the main character.

The teaser was apparently built into the demo teaser for the game PT that was announced today at gamescom. The PT teaser is on the PS Store right now.

I'm at work, so I haven't had a chance to check out the PT teaser. I definitely will after work, now.

considering GDT works on like 20 different projects at once, I wonder what influence he will really have on this.

Correction...
There is no PT. The demo is for a game that doesn't exist.

The whole thing was a gag put together to get people to check out the teaser on the store and surprise them with the SH reveal. The developer listed for PT (7780s Studio) doesn't even exist.

Good old Kojima.

This game was titled "PT" and it was said to be developed by a brand new studio named 7780s Studios. They said that a small demo of the game, an interactive equivalent of a teaser trailer, would be up on the Playstation store later today.

It ends up as people started playing it, they found that at the end of the demo the Silent Hill reveal occurred.

I don't know what I am doing wrong but I can't get PT to end. Looked around and it looks like I'm in the last section but nothing. I just gave up and watched the Silent Hill teaser online. Can't wait for the game but PT frustrated the hell out of me with it's refusal to end.

I had exactly the same problem. I got to the final section, but couldn't get the endgame to activate. After about 2 hrs of wandering around trying desperately to get the phone to ring so I could move on, I gave up.

The most annoying part is I checked around online to see how to do it, and nobody (even people who finished it) seems to know how to finish the game. It just sorta happens. It's almost like it's random.

Damn, I was hoping someone here had figured it out, lol! That was incredibly frustrating. I still didn't finish it.

Seems like a good idea. Silent Hill desperately needs a reboot, and unlike Resident Evil the concept is rather hard to do. But this has me curious.

I've always been a huge Silent Hill fan, so I hope this revitalizes the series, because I think the first four or so are all pretty brilliant in different ways.

The Silent Hill games, at least the ones I've played, have been some of my favorites. I'm looking forward to any new ones, especially if GDT is involved in some way.

re: Silent Hills (Kojima, Guillermo Del Toro) [UPDATE: CANCELLED]

Finally got around to playing P.T. It's a clever little game in its own right. The puzzles, while difficult, are memorable and reminiscent of early Silent Hill games. I used a walkthrough to guide me through some of it, and let me tell you it's very much worth it to collect all the picture fragments.

For reference, here's the method I used to solve the final puzzle:
Spoiler:

1. Wait for the clock to strike midnight.
2. Wait for the first haunting to finish.
3. Walk exactly 10 steps and stop to trigger the first baby laugh.
4. During the next haunting, wait for Lisa to stop crying, then whisper/speak the word "Jarith" into your microphone (I was using the Gold headset and found it didn't register the whispering so I had to speak it louder). Wait a bit and this should trigger the second baby laugh.
5. Once you hear the second laugh, stand still. Don't look around, don't move around.
6. Your controller will begin vibrating. It will do this for a while. Let it finish. The telephone will ring.
7. Go to the telephone, zoom in on it with R3.
8. You will hear a voice say "You've been chosen" and then you'll hear a door unlock behind you.
9. Go through the door in the foyer to trigger the teaser video.

I had picked up all the picture fragments before getting to the final puzzle, which may have been a factor in completing it. Even if it's not necessary, it's really useful because once you get all the fragments, Lisa can't attack you anymore, so you can hang out wherever you want during the hauntings and she won't kill you.

And that solution, including the specific word to say, is from these guys:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/nUTTCfZe8Yc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It's a cool video that shows now just how to solve the puzzle, but the steps taken to achieve the solution.

re: Silent Hills (Kojima, Guillermo Del Toro) [UPDATE: CANCELLED]

there is not a sole specific word that triggers the laughter as I have watched others use different phrases to get it
you also can solve it without the use of any microphone
